Cabling Types

An improved version of Cat 5 that increases specifications for far end crosstalk and all new installation should be at least CAT5e

A cable structure for gigabit Ethernet and additional network protocols. It is backwards compatible with CAT3, CAT5, and CAT5e. CAT6 features stricter blueprints for crosstalk and system noise. CAT6 provides performance up to 250 MHz.

An improvement on CAT6, CAT6a operates at frequencies up to 500 MHz and can carry 10 Gbit/s operations up to a maximum distance of 100 meters. CAT6a also improves conditions particularly in the area of crosstalk.

Backwards compatible with CAT5 and CAT6. CAT7 introduces even more exacting specifications for crosstalk. Shielding is added for individual wire pairs and the cable as a whole to achieve this. CAT7 has been created to allow 10 – gigabit Ethernet over 100 meters of copper cabling, and is capable of running at frequencies up to 600 MHz.

Cabling

Creating a solid foundation for your business

Structured Cabling is one of those “IT basics” and is probably the most under-estimated elements of any communications network. Better to think of it as the supporting infrastructure, bearing the load and distributing your vital business information to where it is needed. It is an essential and fundamental building block, having to perform at peak efficiency round the clock.

Emerging bandwidth-intensive applications such as voice, video and data collaboration over IP are a firm reality. Through these tools, businesses consider their information technology investment as a means of enhancing their bottom line, increasing revenues, lowering operational costs and improving productivity. That means that now, more than ever, consistent, successful delivery of that information within and across enterprises - globally - is an absolute necessity.

To that end, a reliable, high-performance IT cabling infrastructure is key and Universal are here to make it happen for you.

We employ dedicated cabling teams who are fully conversant with all major cabling standards and who are Certified Installers of Brand-Rex cabling systems. Universal chose to supply Brand-Rex as their prime offering as it is an industry leader in high performance cabling, especially for high intensity and extreme environment applications.

25 Year Warranty

Brand-Rex provides for today’s networking needs with the added security of a 25-year system channel warranty.
